Makassar — Media Sorotan Investigasi Hukum reports that approximately 500 schools in Makassar are included in a monitoring agenda, with 47 schools selected for direct visits by representatives of the national library authority.
One of the key visits was conducted by Andi Dian Masyita Arsyak, a representative of the ministry overseeing national library development. She personally inspected SD Negeri Baraya 1, located in Bontoala District, Baraya Subdistrict.
The delegation was warmly welcomed by the school principal, A. Nurhayati, along with teachers and students. The reception featured a vibrant performance of traditional South Sulawesi dance, reflecting the rich Bugis-Makassar cultural heritage.
During the visit, the primary focus was to assess the condition and utilization of the school library as a center for literacy development.
Andi Dian Masyita Arsyak expressed her appreciation for the school’s cleanliness, organization, and conducive learning environment.
“It is truly encouraging to see a school that is so clean and well-maintained. This serves as strong motivation to continue improving the quality of education moving forward,” she stated.
She also emphasized the critical role of libraries in broadening students’ knowledge as the next generation of the nation.
According to her, cultivating a reading culture from an early age is essential to strengthening national education standards.
“The library is not merely a supporting facility; it is a vital source of knowledge that helps students better understand various subjects,” she added.
Meanwhile, Principal A. Nurhayati reaffirmed her commitment to enhancing educational quality through comprehensive learning initiatives, including optimizing the function of the school library.
“We continuously strive to provide quality education, both academically and in character building.
The library plays a crucial role in fostering students’ reading habits and learning development,” she explained.
This visit forms part of the government’s broader effort to ensure equal improvement in education quality, particularly in strengthening literacy across schools. SD Negeri Baraya 1 stands out as a positive example of a well-managed, clean, and structured learning environment focused on continuous educational excellence.
